Choosing a college or university is a monumental decision for high school students. The uncertainty of adapting to a new environment and being away from family can feel overwhelming. That's why the SCSD and Smithtown IAB today hosted a LI College CTE Conference with a main theme of, "Why Long Island."
"There are amazing programs from each and every college and university here on Long Island," stated Smithtown IAB President, Phil Como.
Representatives from more than eight Long Island colleges/universities including Hofstra, Stony Brook and Adelphi were on hand to promote their schools and curriculum. Mr. Como says a goal of this conference was to keep our students on Long Island and fill the employment deficit that exists in specific industries.
After a Q and A session, students were able to chat one-on-one with the representatives.
